Grove Creek Canyon
Description: Grove Creek Canyon is a popular hike above Pleasant Grove, Utah. It has a long (rather than “tall” since it’s not totally vertical) waterfall which is worth seeing from the trail above, though nearby Battle Creek Canyon is more popular since it’s more accessible (and you can rappel from it!).
In early July (for the past three years, at least), you can see one of the world’s largest American flags flying in the canyon mouth.
Steepness: Medium, though sustained.
Notable Features: A waterfall below the trail once you make a couple big switchbacks.
Amenities: Pit toilets, paved parking lot.
When to go: Year round, best when not too hot nor icy.
Directions: Go east up 800 North in Pleasant Grove to the trailhead.
Connecting & cross trails: Up high, you’ll eventually reach Sagebrush Flats and the Great Western Trail.
